SPRING/SUMMER events on the way…TEAM LEADER MEETINGS:

•  RUN FOR COVER (April 14)…1mile 5k, and a 10k run…fund raiser for Samaritan Inn, the only Homeless Shelter in Collin County.  Meeting dates are held at Panera Bread:

• 3/3  8:00 am 

• 4/7  8:00 am 

• GARAGE GIVEAWAY (April 27-29) at Old Settlers Recreation Center.  Meeting dates are held at First Baptist Church - Chapel:

• 3/1  6:30 – 8:00 pm

• 4/5  6:30 – 8:00 pm

• GO and BE (April 14-29)…approximately 30-50 service projects throughout the City of McKinney. No meeting dates as yet.

• PINE COVE CAMP (June 11-15)…160 kids from our Title one schools receive a full scholarship to a week-long camp at Old Settlers Recreation Center.  Meeting dates are held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church:

• 2/23  6:30 – 8:00 pm

• 3/22  6:30 – 8:00 pm

• 4/26  6:30 – 8:00 pm

• 5/31  6:30 – 8:00 pm

REGISTER your familiy to walk or run!

TEACHING MY FAMILY TO HELP THE HOMELESS…

Here is an easy way to educate your children on the Homeless and serve as a family.  Start having conversations about the homeless from newspaper articles and other media coverage.  Talk about the opportunity to walk a mile at the RUN FOR COVER…1 Mile walk and 5k, 10k run…April 14, 2012, at Stonebridge Beach Club.  The proceeds go to Samaritan Inn, the only Homeless Shelter in Collin County. Last year we were able to donate over $26,000.  

Your family can walk together, and others can run in the 3miler or 6miler and they are chip timed!!!  We need more Church support than we have had in the past with promotion, volunteering and participation…I even run the 3miler even though I get beat by little girls…some children raise money for the event and turn it in at this run…one 8 year old is on his third year and turned in over $1,000.  What if Churches put teams together and wore the same t-shirt and challenged other churches (friendly of course…remember it’s a no contact sport)…we could reach our goal of $50,000 for the Homeless.
